Too Many Cooks...

One of the more interesting, yet struggling portions of the gaming industry has been Turn Based Strategy. Namely, hero based turn based strategy. Only two series generally come to mind when contemplating the TBS genre: Heroes of Might & Magic (HOMM), and Warlords. Warlords has a bit more lineage to it than the former. Might & Magic actually started out as a Role Playing series before they released the Heroes branch. Warlords has always been a classic TBS series...until now.

Battling for a shrine
Huh?
More action
Walking the greens, spilling the reds

I must admit, that I have never actually played one of the Warlords TBS games. I have had some experience with the HOMM series, though, and must say that from what I do know of Warlords, the two are eerily similar. Where Battlecry tries to separate itself from its predecessors is in becoming the first real time (RTS) Warlords game. Looking at some of the features of the game, I couldn't really get a clear picture of what I was getting into, but it sounded like a griddle: Every possible type of genre imaginable all in one tiny box. It sounds like a rather cool idea, but never forget the saying: "Too many cooks spoil the broth."
