Microsoft today announced that the MechWarrior 4: Black Knight Expansion Pack will be available in retail locations throughout North America this Fall. Building upon the critically-acclaimed, best-selling MechWarrior 4 franchise, players will get new 'Mechs and vehicles, more ways to modify their 'Mechs, several new multi-player modes, and a new single-player campaign where players will become a Black Legion mercenary fighting for House Steiner.
Microsoft has recruited the expertise of Cyberlore, creators of Majesty and the WarCraft 2 Expansion Pack, to develop the MechWarrior 4: Black Knight Expansion Pack. Cyberlore and FASA Interactive have been working closely together to push MechWarrior 4 to new heights.
"All of the fan feedback practically demanded an expansion pack," explained Dave Luehmann, Head of FASA Studios. "So when we were looking for a partner to help us develop our vision for Black Knight, Cyberlore really impressed us with their passion for MechWarrior and the expertise of their development team."
In addition to the new 'Mechs and vehicles on the way, MechWarrior 4: Black Knight also introduces a new Black Market mode which will give players more options when upgrading their 'Mechs. MechWarriors are no longer limited to salvaged equipment from previous battles, and can now trade to get the parts they really need. New multiplayer modes include Absolute Attrition, Strongholds, Siege Assault, Giant Killers and Clan vs. Inner Sphere.
